What exactly is a doula?

I’m glad you asked.

A Doula is is an individual who can provide emotional, physical, and informational support — whether that be before, during, or after childbirth — to an expectant family.

There are many types of doulas out there that may fit your need. You have men and women doulas, Birth Doulas, Postpartum Doulas, Fertility Doulas, Bereavement/ Loss Doulas, etc. Some doulas may come equipped to do one or multiple of those things.

Overall a Doula common goal is to do one thing — to provide families with nonjudgmental care.

As for me, I aim to provide birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding support. This means that my goal as your doula would be to provide education, support, and resources to help facilitate to birthing process, and to help adapt to bringing baby home. I want to help you feel as prepared as possible. Let me be the care you receive that helps to make this new period of your life as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Let’s not get it confused, though.

A Doula is not a medically trained professional.

This means that I legally cannot prescribe you medication, make medical diagnoses, preform clinical tasks, or make decisions for you. Still, there are many benefits to having a Doula.

Let’s look at the facts —

01
39% decrease in the risk of cesarean

02
15% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth

03
10% decrease in the use of any medications for pain relief

04
Shorter labors by 41 minutes on average

05
38% decrease in the baby’s risk of a low 5 minute apgar score

06
31% decrease in the risk of being Dissatisfied with birth experience

Postpartum Services
$32.00

Having a baby can be a complete joy! You finally get to bring home your beloved one that you’ve been waiting for for almost an entire year! Now the party’s getting started! You can finally spend your time holding and cuddling your baby without a care in the world, gushing at their newborn scrunch — That is… until the realization that there’s household tasks to be done sets in — then you’ll begin to wish someone like me would come around.

Which is fine because someone like me can come around.

Your postpartum period is an important time for families - it’s a time to enjoy and recover, but how can one recover when there’s so much to do and what feels like so little time?

With this service, I would provide support to mom and family after the birth of the baby. That can include: emotional and physical recovery, breastfeeding counseling, infant care, house care, and running errands. Services are available for use in home and in hospital.

Breastfeeding Counseling *COMING SOON*
$75.00

It’s as I always say - “Breastfeeding is a journey best done when enjoyed.”

A proper latch can make a world of a difference! There are sooo many benefits that come from breastfeeding, not just for baby, but for mom as well! Unfortunately, many moms come across a few obstacles that cause them to want to give up at the start, and who could blame them? This standalone service is for the moms who just need a little extra support in the eating area

With this service, I will provide educational tips and support. This can include: How to breastfeed, properly latch and position, how to store milk/formula, etc.

This service can take place in home, hospital, birthing center, or virtual.

  • I could not be more thankful for Grey. She really helped me prepare for my labor. Even though my birth did not go exactly as plan because my baby obstructed my cervix and that caused me to get induced (she knew I was against being induced) and the medication Pitocin is so horrible)) but she assisted me and husband to get through 45 hours of my labor. I was so exhausted because of the Pitocin being increased every two hours, that it made labor uneasy because the contractions were coming every minute to where you are unable to rest. I ended up getting an epidural, but she helped my husband with different positions and comforting measures. I will most definitely refer her to anyone, prices are affordable and she also accepts Humana Medicaid and that pays for doula and postpartum visits which is a big help.

  • I’m so grateful for the support I received from Doula Grey during my pregnancy. She was always kind, understanding, and available whenever I needed guidance or reassurance. Even though she isn’t able to be at my labor, the encouragement and knowledge she shared has really helped me feel more confident and prepared. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a supportive doula.

  • Grey is amazing, she was always attentive and always very willing to be of help to anything that I asked her. She provided so much resourceful information that I can look back and really appreciate. She was my first experience with a doula and it was a great one!

  • Grey is super friendly and helpful. She stepped in when I really needed the help. She was very patient with my baby and a great communicator for me too. She also went out of her way to give me extra help because I am a first time mom and don't really know much

  • “I am very grateful for my newborn son Nicolas’s doula, Grey, who has shown 100% integrity during her service. On the first day, she arrived 15 minutes early to meet my baby and get ready to help. She bathed my baby, changed his diapers, fed him, changed his clothes, washed his clothes, and cleaned his bottles and breast pump. She provided amazing emotional support and was very sensitive to my needs.”
